Any Design Is Not Permanent On the Internet – On a Book It Is

Have you ever noticed the fashion and trend of reading books has been significantly reduced over the past several years? The trend of physical magazines is also not as hot as it used to be in the past. There are many reasons, and one of the reasons is that there is usually timeless content packed inside printed books and magazines. Although the permanency of a book still feels so special when compared to a blog post and even one of the novels on my iBooks apps. You might have also noticed that there is a strange lack of permanency when we consider the digital design that never moves into the physical world. Perhaps that is the reason why you would not find the covers of the novels very interesting, because unlike wordpress themes that could be changed frequently whenever you want, novel covers can’t be refreshed and changed again and again.

Among many other features and qualities, internet also has the feature to never stop changing. This is because we do not want the internet to stop changing. We get bored of the same stuff and thus we want new looks, new ideas, refreshed stuff and redesigns. This is what we desire. Just because of internet, the trends of every field and industry are moving at a much faster pace than before. But this all trend is only for the best. Google, being the most popular and well-liked search engine constantly keeps trying to refine its experience. Just compare the websites today with the websites of five years back! The official website of Apple Inc five years back would look simply rubbish if you see it today. You would see a significant difference between the designs, functionality and navigation structure of the websites of the past and the websites of today.

This constantly changing nature of internet is excellent but it also alters the way we make and consume content. People used to read magazines and books in the past but nowadays people have the tendency to read everything on the internet instead. This is good but now people don’t remember to keep their favorite designs and content with them because every other day they see a different design and content. Usually bloggers are comfortable with their writing following the role of a newspaper. They try to serve a daily need with the most special things clipped and saved for later.

So basically we can say that although internet offers great advantages and gives us new content and designs every day but the significance of conventional books and magazines stays forever.

Some Most Common Web Design Mistakes You Should Avoid

While creating a website you might find numerous programs that might be helpful. Apparently it is believed that web design should be easily done by anyone. So even if you are not a professional designer you might be able to create a good website by using a software program. So when you have chosen the right software program for your website design, what else should you know that would give your website the “wow” look? In this post, we have mentioned some important points that should be kept in mind while designing the website and some common mistakes done by amateur designers.

Most importantly, your design should be unique. Good or bad, whatever, but it should be unique and original. If the design is fantastic but it is identical with the design of another website then it is of no use. Remember, your website is the representation of your business on the internet so you need to spend some time and come up with something original and interesting. So mistake number one is to create a design resembling the design of another website.

Another important point to mention is that you should avoid using Flash. Some people are fascinated by Flash and want to have a Flash website but believe me it should be avoided at all cost. There are many disadvantages of Flash and the most important ones that Flash websites are not supported by search engines and mobile devices. People are fascinated with Flash because it definitely looks neat and it will be able to impress the visitors of the website. But since search engines can not crawl and index Flash websites, people will not be able to find the website through search engines. Flash websites can not be optimized for search engines because search engine bots can not crawl Flash websites. Moreover, Flash websites are usually not supported by mobile devices and computer tablets. Mistake number two is to create a Flash website.

Every website usually has some images. You should also have images on your website, but remember, it is always recommended to use your own exclusive pictures and images on your website instead of using stock images. This is also among the mistakes that web designers make while designing a website. Even if there are no copyrights issues, it would not look professional if the image that you have on your website is also present on the website of your competitor. So instead of looking for stock images, simply hire a professional photographer and upload some original and exclusive images on your website. Mistake number three, using stock images on your website.

Understanding the Psychology of Logo Design

Some of us might not understand this phrase, but yes, there is also a psychology of logo design and this psychology of logo design is one of the most oversimplified factors involved in the creation of a logo. Some designers only think that the psychology of logo design only takes into consideration the choice of colors, but in reality it is much more than that. Logo design means the activity of creating a logo, whereas a logo is a symbol of recognition and identification. In the same way, the psychology of a logo design is actually the meaning or sense that is communicated by the logo design besides an identification and recognition.

It is important for every logo designer to understand the exact meaning of psychology in the logo design process. The word logo is derived from the Greek word “logos” that means “word”. So basically, when a designer creates a logo, he is actually creating a visual word that would be identified and used by people. When you understand the significance of psychology in the logo design process you will gain control of what this meaning is going to be. Strangely, people understand and interact with a logo design just like they do with a word or brand name of the business, i.e. with their own personal perspective. Personal perspectives are always led by cultural and personal experiences and views. This means that just like people of different levels of education and diverse mental abilities see different meanings for the same word, in the same way, they might even see different meanings for the same logo design as well.

The best approach for a logo designer is to think each part of the logo as an attribute and then try to reflect on what each attribute might mean and how people generally will understand and see it. It is important that the logo designer spends sufficient amount of time on the meaning and implication of these attributes so that he could literally control the understanding of people when reading the logo. There are two most central attributes that create meaning of a logo design; color and shape. The role of color in the logo design psychology is often misinterpreted. When you choose the right color for your logo design, you move one step forward in the meaning process, but it is also important to note here that different colors have different meanings and implications in different societies. So beware!
